최후통첩?

왜 그리 많은 희생자가 있어야만 했을까... 

왜 174 이후 단 한 명도 구조할 수가 없었을까...

한 명이라도 살아 돌아오기를 기다리며... 수 백의 꽃다운 죽음에 눈도 깜짝 하지않는 냉혈한들이 아니라면 저럴 수 없지 하는 상황을 계속 목격하며 드는 생각이 있다.

냉정하게 망해봐야 정신을 차리지 하며 망하도록 내버려두지 못하는 조상님들로부터의 일종의 최후 통첩이었나... 계속 그러면 정말 망할 것이라는... 좋게 말해 알아들을 자들이 절대 아니라... 절대 왠만한 충격으로 깨닫고 바로 잡을 인간들이 아니라... 그렇게 세게 잔인하게 알려줬어야만 했었나...

단순 사고가 아니었다.

총.제.적. 부.실.

상처는 넓고 깊고 오래되어 보인다.

환부를 도려내겠다 덤비다 목숨이 위태로워지는 것 아닐까 싶을 만큼...

그들의 영혼을 달랠 수 있는 길은 단 하나밖에 없는 것 같은데...

우리는 살아서 아름다웠을 그들의 삶만큼 그들의 죽음을 아름답게 만들수 있을까?

레미제라블의 서문...

매우 의미심장하다. 어떤 채널이 존재해 1862년의 그와 이야기할 수 있다면 적어도 세대차이는 없을 것같다.

유감스럽게도 이 책은 매우 'of use'이고 심지어 'in action'이라해도 좋을 것 같다.
